Custom Framing Services
Custom framing involves art, design, and construction of the protective and often times decorative container for your artwork. Our goal as custom framers is the preservation of your art using acid-free materials to make it last through the next generation!

We frame:

  • oil paintings
  • fabrics
  • acrylics
  • needlework
  • watercolors
  • artifacts
  • pastels
  • diplomas
  • pen & ink
  • coins, medals
  • prints
  • memorabilia
  • posters
  • t-shirts
  • photographs
  • papyrus
  • objects
  • jewelry

We charge for materials and labor according to the total square footage of the piece to be framed. Our normal turnaround time is two weeks

Custom Framing Classes
The principle that "knowledge is power" applies to custom framing! We offer a five hour Custom Framing 101 Crash Course designed to equip you with information, skill, and confidence to enable you to use the shop’s Do-It-Yourself Framing facilities to frame you own works of art. Class participants are required to bring a 5"x7" picture to use for the practicum. The cost of $65 includes materials, lectures and hands on framing experience. Pre-registration is required. You may stop by, call or register on line for these classes held the last Saturday of the month from 11 AM until 4 PM.

Do-It-Yourself Framing
Anyone who has taken our Custom Framing Class 101 at Fort Myer or any other military facility is welcome to use the shop. The cost is $3 per hour. In stock materials are available for purchase and materials can also be ordered upon request.

Your Framer
Ana Maria Lopez, owner of Hope Gallery, received her Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Manila, Philippines as well at a BFA in Commercial Arts at La Consolacion College (LCC) in Bacolad City, Philippines. She taught art to grades 3-6 in the Philippines prior to coming to the United States in 1986 during the People’s Power Revolution. In the last seven years she has worked on art preservation and custom framing at Broadway Galleries in Alexandria, Virginia and the Snow Goose Museum Gallery in Columbia, Maryland.

Ana studied decorative matting under Brian Wolf, CPF and framing fabrics with Vivian Kistler, CPF in 1998 at the Professional Picture Framer’s Association (PPFA). She has been a custom framer at Fort Myer since 2001, and in 2002 she became the principle owner and renamed the frame shop Hope Gallery. Ana is also a landscape artist who uses organic material as her medium.

She has been published in the Fort Myer Military Community’s Pentagram newspaper (July 2002), Asian Fortune magazine (Sept. 2002), and in the Philippine Inquirer (Sept. 2002) for her work on military memorabilia restoration and custom framing restoration of military prints and documents damaged in the attack on the Pentagon, September 11, 2001. Ana’s mission statement is: To lift up the human spirit through art.
